AFL Season 2010. Show 15.
The feedback from the video ranting regarding Mark Fine was hilarious guys and girls. But in all honesty, I suggest you have a listen to him ranting before you get stuck into me. Medja people who feel the mainstream medja is a vehicle to push their own agenda are sickening.
This weeks show finds another long-term cast member make his way back into Studio 3 for another rant but not as loud or as long as my last one. With the season just hotting up, the 8 appears to be pretty much settled, but stranger things can happen. And Matty Knights is still hoping he loses an incisor so the tooth fairy can come.
UPDATE: – Check out Round 3 of the Video Explosive Rants. Much more to come in the following weeks.

Hi Venetia,
Thanks for your comment.
I have done a little research since this issue came to light recently in regards to why caffeine was removed from the WADA banned list.
Your comments are correct to an extent. In different articles I have found (no statements from WADA sadly), they mention the resistance/tolerance that people can build up to the positive effects of caffeine however they also go on to say that any positive effects of caffeine ‘doping’ are nullified by the greated concentrations of caffeine in the blood.
Ergo, the more that you have beyond a certain range that promotes a beneficial effect, the greated concentrations actually are detrimental to physical performance, and this appears upon first reading to be the main reason why it was removed.
There are also studies done that indicate caffeine actually undermines the bodies ability to promote blood flow which has detrimental effects on the carriage of oxygen to the cells, and also the clearing of carbon dioxide and waste products from the body during exercise.

Have a read of that if you get the chance.
Cheers for now.

hi Venetia
To an extent you are right in that people do build up a resistance to caffeine. Geez, I need about 4 cups to get going in the morning so can relate to it.
However the exact reasons as to why it was taken off the banned list in the first place appear at least on the surface to be a bit more scientific than just building up a tolerance level.
From what I can find in my basic research, it seems that the so-called experts believe that in higher doses…. and after a long-term build up of the positive effects through the tolerance you spoke about.. that caffeine actually as a detrimental effect on performance rather than a positive one, and ergo, it was removed from the banned list.
Have a look at this article if you want further info.

Thanks for the feedback.
The reason why caffeine was taken off WADA list is that because coffee is such so widespread, people have varying tolerances to caffeine. The old tolerance level was an arbitrary figure, and may not have even give the athlete a performance hit.
I find it odd though though that the club doctors give it to the players so freely. With all drugs, you develop tolerances for it. If you use it occasionally you’ll get a true performance boost . Regular users however don’t get the performance hit, in fact it starts to detract from their performance if they don’t use it. You know those people that NEED a coffee in the morning? Those people are suffering caffeine withdrawal symptoms, and need the coffee to function.
Also considering that the players are so well monitored for fluids, you’d think that caffeine being diuretic, would effect fluid retention.
I’m just confused.
