After looking at my predictions for 2010, I was thankful that I got at least a couple right, even though my main ones concerning the Premiers were waaayyyyy off the mark. Who would have thought that Collingwood would do that in 2010? I would venture to say that not even the most ardent Collingwood fan would have expected the year they had.

I was right with Judd winning the Brownlow but pity Murphy and Gibbs didn’t do much.
I was also right with the prediction that someone would test postive a 3rd time to illicit substances.
I was wrong on much of the make-up of the final 8 and obviously a number of other things as well.

Here are my predictions for 2011. Please feel free to add your own in the comments section and we will see how well everyone does at the end of the year.

Biggest Issue

The bitch-fight that will surround the awarding of TV Rights for 2012 onwards. Foxtel will be the major winner and will out-bid Channel 7 for live Friday night footy, with Foxtel then on selling the rights to Channel 7 rights to replay the game in Melbourne at 11.00pm.

Major Surprise:
Liam Jurrah kicking 75 goals to finish 2nd in the Coleman

Biggest Disappointment:

Bryce Gibbs not living up to his reputation.

Will Malthouse coach Melbourne or Carlton?

Melbourne will make him an offer first. Malthouse will not allow his long-standing detestation of Carlton take Ratten’s job.

Biggest Name that GWS will sign.

Scott Pendlebury who isn’t that much of a big name really. Apart from that, they may be lucky to get Jack Watts in a chook raffle.

Ladder Predictor 2010

It’s that time of year when finals are almost upon us. 5 weeks to go and lots of permutations and combinations to occur before we actually know the make up of the final 8.

Whilst some footy pundits in the medja sold us the idea that the 8 was settled after Round 10, the last 7 weeks have proven that footy is a funny game and nothing is settled until the last Saturday in August.

The question remains though. Who WILL make finals in 2010. Is Carlton settled yet? What about Sydney – do you think they are safe? Could Melbourne or North actually make a huge play in the last few rounds?

I would love to say Footscray but I think Adelaide might surprise everyone this year.
