In the main Footytalk ELC League, Never Mind the Kits proved that winning form all year is great form and got over a tenacious Reverse Kanga’s in a spiteful and hateful match where the Kanga’s full back actually threatened to treat his opponenent to a ‘Reverse Kanga’ after he had his 8th kicked on him.  For those who don’t understand the term’ reverse kanga’, I suggest you do a rural dictionary search for it.  EEWWWW!  Xplozn!!!!

So The Kits move into the Grand Final against an unlikely opponent in the No Stars who suprised everyone with a huge upset win over the highly fancied Witz Wizards.  Coach Adrian will be understandably seething over the performance of his charges, especially against his most hated opponenent and traditional rivals from the No Stars, and especially coach Moles!  Well done Moles, for overcoming bad injury, bad luck and poor coaching throughout the year (especially against NUTS) to make the GF.

I can only imagine that the crafty Moles has two trades up his sleeve and will pull out some big guns to really take it up to the Kits and I am tipping an upset win to  the No Stars.

In the ELC Minor Final, I would expect Rooboy to thump NUTS who have again shown they are entirely Not Up To Scratch!

The Footytalk Too League as been a race in two for most of the year… well it has really been a race in two for second place as Joost Gaack has waltzed his way through the year losing only one game courtesy of Essendon playing Marc The Crap into form when he booted 12.  Le Ferrey, however, are a crafty outfit and will not lie down when the heat is on unlike The Gulls in the Prelim.    Le Ferrey thumped an out-of-sorts Juddernaught, who like their namesake, just couldn’t seem to get near it or hit a target by foot when they did.  Pathetic on both counts.

I am tipping an upset and expect Liam to lead his boys to a 10 point victory in a tight match.

The minor final should see Footytalk’s own Moose get over the top of Noisy’s dream to consign the latter to the boardroom over summer to maximise his trade capacities.

Week 1 Finals have been won and lost and it seems that there are really only two main contenders and the rest of us have been posturing and jockeying for positions as the also-rans.

Joost Gaack Wins has wiped the floor with the Juddernaught, and the old Ferret, Le Ferrey has completely upstaged the boys from N.U.T.S who failed to perform on the big stage.

In other matches, the Gulls have gotten over their stage fright and shown Martwell’s Boys what for, whilst in the other eliminator, the Fishboys who rot from the Head have accounted for Bens Motors and move onto the Juddernaught in the Semi’s.  Two big matches this week with Bushman shaping up against the Fishes and NUTS trying to gain some respect against his traditional rivals in the Gulls.

After knocking off the great Joost Gaack last week in Footytalk Too, NUTS took on the highly fancied “Never Mind the Kits” in Footytalk ELC and in what turned out to be an absolute thriller, the coack of NMTK (Jared) would have been breathing a sigh of relief after a close 11pt victory.   NUTS just couldn’t get the job done against the second big gun in two weeks.

The biggest surprise in Footytalk Too is the atrocious form of Juddernaught who has dropped another game and has fallen out of the top 4 for the first time in living history.  Bushman will be struggling to take the cup this year.

Both Coaches rival Kevin Sheedy with their outlandish statements and ‘confident’ attitudes so I look forward to seeing lots of abuse in the coaches box this week.

At the bottom end of the ladder, Noisy is still dreaming, and Auction seems to have sold the farm down the river as both have not only not registered a win, both have struggled to put a decent score on the board.

Riewoldt’s NUTS is just going along and trying to build on a solid start to the year.

In our second League, Witz Wizards and Never Mind the Kits continue their strong form early in the year and are really positioning themselves for a shot at the big time title.  In a change to his normal M.O, Witz has decided to go full on right from the start of the year and is not relying on a late run into the finals.  One wonders whether this may backfire later in the year.

Moles  had an easy win over the Hammers, and surprisingly, Sheedy was taken to the cleaners by NUTS.  Good work!  Blutus’ Brigade seems to be struggling a little but that’s acceptable from a New Zealander who should be more concerned with the All- White’s efforts at the MCG on May 24th.  (that is one of the only times I will ever make a non-disparaging remark about soccer on this forum so don’t expect any more).

We have two footytalk leagues and I have been slightly remiss at not including all the details from both leagues up until now.  To those in the second league who have been asking where the results are  – I will make sure that I continue to put all the details up every week from now on.

In any case, here are the results and the ladder for Round 2.

Good wins this week to Outboard Motors, Michaels Warriors, Marty’s Boyds who thumped NUTS, the Juddernaught, Le Ferrey who continues to show why he is one of the most astute Supercoaches going around, The Gulls, The Hammers and Joost Gaak. There is a long way to go but I would venture to say that there are a lot of coaches who are madly trading Cyril Said and Mark Le Crap out of their sides this week. Bring on Daniel Bradshaw.

The results leave next week’s games pretty open really.

Game of the round will be Joost Gaack Wins agains The Gulls from Bell Post Hill. I think the petrol in the air down there near the Shell Refinery may cause the Gulls to get a little dizzy and Joost Gaak will run away easy winners. Le Ferrey will have an easy win over Auction, The Juddernaught should continue on his merry way, Meercats may struggle against The Beers captain in Joe Cooper and CHF – Doug Remer and go down in a tight struggle. I tip Noisy’s Dream to get the mustard against Gone To Custard, the Fishboys to rot from the head in a loss against Hammers, and finally NUTS will play like a bunch of Riewoldts and get roundly reamed by the Noonday Taster.

Well done to all players in this years league as well.  We look forward to bringing you bigger and better leagues in 2010.

Here are the last week’s results that shored up the final 8 for 2009.

Thankfully NUTS managed to scrape into the finals in one league, and a very close win against Belly Boys in the Public League was not enough to get us over the line.  Shamefully, in the Jezza League, we lost a lot of close games against Lemnos and the boys from F-Troop, however this was upset by a quality first up win against Blackjack who struggled to shake of the shame of being beaten by a bag of cashews,

Still, it was an enjoyable season in all three leagues and the finals are upon us.

And for the finals schedule, look no further.  From all that has happened, we are tipping Witz Wizards as the eventual Premiers, and even though we have called for Sheedy to be knocked out in straight sets, it looks unlikely given the desert he will be served up in the Semi-Finals (either NUTS or Custard).

Game of the round will be between the Pirates and Bushman.   I think local footytalk.com.au knowledge will help Bushie over the line.

Some interesting results this week, notwithstanding the Fu Men who crashed to their 10th placed rivals this week.  Unfortunately, that happend when your skipper gets a knock to his knee in the first few minutes and goes off without scoring a point.  Shame.  The Wizards continue to score heavily but the draw a few weeks ago may mean that he will miss the finals for the first time in living history.  The Pirates continue to play well and have solidified themselves in the top 8, although the Custards and Noisy’s Dream would be hoping that NUTS and the Wizards get knocked off this week as they are struggling.

There will be no mention of the other leagues as the author still cannot believe, nor understand how a team can score an extra 140 points from the unofficial scores at the end of a game, and when the official confirmation comes out.  It’s a bloody rort!

And the ladders after Round 7.  There is still such a long way to go and with so few trades left.  When, oh when is Buddy going to pull his finger out of his proverbial and start earning some points.  Just as well the AFL brought in some changes to the anti-vilification laws of there would be many references to those who are less-able bodied than the rest of us.

Gone to Custard continues on his winning ways, but it will remain to be seen just how well he goes when he comes up against some real competition.

In the Jezza league, a hard fought victory over Fusion sees NUTS clinging to the top 8 but it is a very, very hard league.  Moguts Meanmachine will find it very difficult to overcome Wayne’s Timorese Natives.  The winner of the FIGJAM Platter was Blackjack who, against all the odds, got stuck into Sheedy and showed him just how he could crash a hotted up VN Commodore into a fence at an engagement party while two unsuspecting attendees visited the facilities at a tree nearby.

Lemnos seems to be struggling with no firepower up forward, whilst the Fevolution must have been on the juice to score so heavily in a week when no decent players actually scored anything.  Strange things are afoot down at the Circle K!

Sadly, NUTS got over-run by Sheedy’s mob by the nearly barest of margins, and even worse, got beaten again in the Jezza League.  It will be a struggle to sneak into the 8 in a pretty high scoring league.  The emptation is to dump Fevalio a.s.a.p but he is just as likely to turn it on with 8 this week against Collingwood.  Having said that, there is more chance of Rocca turning it on and kicking 8 against Brett ‘Apples’ Thornton.

Fair dinkum, with a star studded forward line like Pavlich who is playing in the guts, Fevalio who is a proverbial liability, Franklin who is fat as butter and Roughead who can only beat up on Carlton at the moment, you would expect they would kick a magic score every week.  Sadly, even in Supercoach, living off one’s reputation is not worth squat.

I’m tipping another loss for NUTS in all leagues, especially in the clash of the titans against Witz Wizards – who, regardless of their lowly position on the ladder, have scored heavily each week and have just run into some pretty tough competition.  An easy victory for the Wizards this week.  In the Jezza league, the grudge match this week is between Sheedy’s Superstars and BlackJack.  Whilst Carlton and Collingwood are playing for the Peter MacCallum Cup, these two buffoons are playing for the “FIGJAM Platter”.  Never have two blokes had such low self-concept as these two rival coaches.  Much like picking the winner between Essendon and Collingwood, this reporter couldn’t give a stuff who wins this one.

The clash of the titans in the Footytalk League saw Auction get a heads up on his fiercest opponent  – Homer’s Choice (who managed the lowest score ever in the history of Supercoach, Dreamteam OR Footytips.com.au Fantasy Footy.  Good work Homer).

Petho’s Pirates came undone again, just to show that not everything rides on the back of Gary Ablett.  The next few weeks will really sort the men from the boys and girls when the Great Man’s Son isn’t around to walk on water down at Kardinia Parkand 70% of Supercoach coaches will have to either trade him out or put him on the bench for a subsitute of the status of Ed Lower or someone similar.  I think many coaches will have Jack Watts in this week – hoping that he will get double point as captain of his local school side!  FRAUDS!

In the Jezza league, sadly, N.U.T.S came up against the Dogman of Alcatraz, and went down by the density of his chest hair.  Obviously playing against Lemnos is always a grudge and N.U.T.S has much less chest hair than the Dogman!

Good to see N.U.T.S has had a few wins although still hasn’t cracked it in the Public League.  Another quality win over Ang’s Hooligans in the main Footytalk.com.au league though, and even further proof that he knows nothing about footy when he is sitting 3rd in the Jezza League.

There are a couple of HUGE Grudge matches this week with N.U.T.S v Lemnos in Jezza, and N.U.T.S v Petho’s Pirates in the Footytalk.com.au League.   We’ll be happy as long as the NUTS can sing the theme song at the end of the game to the tune of “Shepparton Boys are Happy..Shepparton Boys are We”.  Stick it up those red and white buffoons from Princess Park!!

The Match of the Round would be the clash of Traditional Rivals between Homer’s Choice and Auction.  It should be a close match but Auction should just have enough up the sleeve to get over the line.

The most pleasing result from the weekend’s games was the thumping given to Blackjack by NUTS in the Jezza league.  After reading the diatribe of dribble coming out of Coach Jamie’s mouth for an extended period, it was great to show his pisley squad a very clean pair of heels.  Surprisingly, he has gone to ground.  Ahhh the silence is golden.  Good Work NUTS.
