Explosive Rants 2010. Rant 2
In this weeks Rant, we look at some of the medja commentators -well one at least – who should have having a rest this week for bringing himself, his employer and the art of commentating itself into disrepute.
Steve Quartermaine – you should know better. We all know that Malcolm Blight is the Football Director at the Gold Coast Life Savers but really, badgering a fellow commentator is a disgrace.

Hi Bluntus.
I agree entirely on Quartermaine. About the only thing he is noteworthy of, if you can believe the ‘myths’ is that he stood up to Jean Claude Van Damme for trying to steal his wife one night. Popular gossip (not that we go in for scuttlebutt down here at footytalk.com.au) is that he is a complete nong in his common life o as you say – muppets are as muppets do.
There is a lot of material for the explosive rants and I will slowly get through a lot of them. I did this rant before the Aker column in the Bostonian and was just too busy to get it on line until last night.
I also have to be careful not to ‘steal’ material for the Rants from the podcast proper.
Ahhh the tribunal. How ridiculous is it? Much linke umpiring, the complete lack of consistency is ludicrous.
Fair points Explosion, except for one thing.
You set the bar too high for Quarters. The guy has been a muppet his entire broadcasting career. I have in second hand from a former neighboure of his (close family friend) that he was a complete prat outside of broadcasting too.
To corrupt a Forrest Gumpism, muppets are as muppets do. And to mix metaphors, too late for that leopard to change its spots.
Surprised that this week didn’t provide more material for explosive rants. There seemed to be a few topics more worthy – the obvious being Aka, perhaps some insights into the tribunal and their inability to deliver consistency on the rough play / tackle front, to name just two.
Love your work.
